‘Hero’ girl recovering after SUV shooting

This is a fine example of the Anti-SUV crowd's influence, on the Associated Press' editor who wrote this headline gem of a headline; (that never the less ignores the truthes about SUV's from a safety and pollution perspective, especially when compared to China's "DIRTY" coal-powered eco-catastrophe). "‘Hero’ girl recovering after SUV shooting". I am still trying to figure out how the SUV was involved in the shooting... Other than the fact that a really bad dude hopped into the one these two were riding in before they got shot. It is not really amazing to see this anti-SUV agenda appear only in the Headline... I guess the AP's editor just couldn't let it drive by without peddling his twaddle.

(NOTE: The weak of social and political standing should not read on as I will only infuriate them.)

Now for my Harsh Critique of the overall premise of this article, which left me very annoyed at the mother of this "HEROIN" not "HERO" girl which is a PC attempt to avoid using the correct form of a the word for a female hero.

Words have definitions and the right word ought to be used when it is called for by the context. Just because some drugged out junkie is going to start looking for his "bootlaces"; simply because of the homonymic nature of the drug and the individual of female gender worthy of laud and glory, does not mean you should dumb down your words. This is one of those underlying fundamental cracks in this Great Nation. We are losing our linguistic soul to the cult of PC wordsmithing.

(Note: Bootlaces is slang for a line of heroine.)

Actually, I was very impressed that neither the writer nor the editor tried to play the Gun Control card in this article. But I suppose it would have been awkward to explain how it is that the felon came to be in his possession of a firearm he was banned by law from possessing. (I am quite certain the terms of his parole and conviction made that quite clear.) Yet, it is what I have come to expect from criminals, they break the law. NO MATTER WHAT LAW IT IS!.

Regardless of how "heroic" this story's headline seeks to announce itself. It well enough written as an article in grammar but the obvious questions when unasked. This article strives for an upbeat tone but leaves me knowing that this poor little girl has a the less than stellar mother. She is after all the reason her daughter got shot. Why do I say such a harsh thing? She is the one who had dated a man known to be a violent felon for three months!!!

I am willing to bet he wasn't the first "baddie" she has brought home to her apartment. That is why case ought to have a second investigation. Which would look into the mother's behavior toward her "delayed" daughter, with the intent of the investigation focused on determining her true competency to continue as her "guardian". Remeber it was the mother who so blithely placed her daughter in harms way by bringing a felon into her life. She is anything but this little "Angel's" guardian! There is another word that has a meaning that has been PC'ed out of shape by those with an anti-family agenda.
