Poorly constructed articles are a pet peeve of mine, yet the ones that take the cake are those that are blatantly blinded by an agenda. These types of articles are surprisingly all to often released by large media outlets that seek to pretend to have no bias, which is a hallmark of truly excellent journalism. If a journalist wishes to cover a subject they need to clearly and concisely represent both sides of a story and then if they wish to add in their closing their take on the subject it is an acceptable and even laudable practice. Sadly most issue pieces favor one side or the other exclusively and feature only weak points on the other side as possible alternatives. This is a very poor practice in reporting and shows obvious lack of competence and intellect on the part of the journalist. If a journalist claims to have no bias they should truly represent no bias. However if the journalist has a particular opinion of point of view in writing the article they should fully disclose this up front. In so doing the journalist lends perspective, clarity and credibility to their article. Any other practice is dishonest and should be rejected out of hand by any truly objective Editor in the world.
So with those principles in mind let me state my point of view for you at the out set of this blog. I believe in the Constitution of the United States unadulterated and unaltered those who wish to remove meaning from it that is clearly stated or to remove meaning from it to satisfy their particular political views. I believe in the sanctity of God's laws and accept them as the basic building block of society. I reject radical fundamentalism in any and all forms, be they conservative or liberal, Christian, Jewish, Islamic, Buddhist or other creed. I believe in and sustain my Nation, even when I find fault in a particular practice, party or people. The practice of which mandates that I grant all I meat this same freedom provided they too uphold the sanctity of the foundation of this Nation.
